Eben-Emael

The fort of  Eben-Emael makes part of the outside defence line around Liege and is build between 19320 and 1935. It has 17 blocs and has a surface of 35 ha. The fort has two floors, below are barracks, power plant and entrance. On the top floor are the storage rooms, commando posts and shafts to the blocks

Armament:
1 turret for two 120 mm canons
2 retractable turrets for 75 mm canons
4 casemates for each three 75 mm canons
10 blocs for infantry protection

Early in the morning of the 10 of May 1940 the fort was attacked by gliders who landed on top of the fort. Within 10 minutes 7 blocks where damaged or destroyed with explosives. Saturday 11 May at 12.30 h the fort surrendered

Now a day the fort is a museum and open for public
