In 1330
the lords of Thierstein made the base for the castle of Farnsburg. After
different attacks the castle was abandoned in 1798.
Now a day only the castle is a ruins and only some walls are left
Between 1936 en 1940 the Swiss army constructed an observation post below
the old castle to survey Basle and the Rhine
Access to the ruins is free
Location East of the highway A2 Basel -> Bern/Luzern,
exit Liesthal/Sissach. Afterward direction Sissach > after Sissach
direction Frick > Gelterkinden > Ormalingen, at the village
entrance follow the signs Farnsburg. |
