The mission of the fort was to defend the casemates in the valley of Neunhoffen (Basse Vosges). It has 6 blocs of which 2 with artillery and 2 entrances
As from June 1940 the fort was bombarded by Stukas several times. During the war the Germans have destroyed several blocks
Armament:
Block 1: retractable turret for two 135 mm mortars
Block 2 retractable turret for two 75 mm canons
Block 3: retractable turret for two 81 mortars
Block 4: observation post
Block 5: retractable turret for machine guns
Block 6: infantry casemate
Crew: 580 men
Engines: 4 Sulzer 165 HP
Nowadays the fort is opened for public by the local tourist office. On top of the fort you have a good view over the surrounding.
The fort is located near the village of Lembach.
