 The
fort of Hollogne is situated near the airport of Bierset and makes part of
the inner position of Liege. The fort was constructed in 1988.
The main armament were turrets for
12, 15 and 21 cm canons and 5,7 cm canons
for close defence. As from the 4th of August 1914 the fort was attacked by
the German army until it surrendered on the 16th of August 1917.After the 2nd world war the fort was used by the Belgium army until is was opened for public in 1988. |
