Power plant

In peace time the forts are connected with an underground cable to the civil net. When this cable is disconnected the forts have their own power source.  Most of the forts have two or more engines for the power supply on the power plant. The electricity is used for

  • lights

  • the kitchen

  • the trains

  • the filters and ventilator

  • for the elevators and retractable turrets

The electricity is transformed into

  • 440 V alternating current for general use

  •  600 V direct current for the train

  • 1500 V alternating current for transport to different parts of the fort

  • 110 V alternating current for the turrets and elevators

The diesel oil was stored in large tanks in special fireproof space. The tanks are from iron to occur cracks. The diesel was delivered with trucks at the entrances and pumped by tubes to the storage tanks
