MAGINOT LINE
A fort

AMMUNITION

In the fort of the Maginot line the ammunition us stored in three places to prevent a total explosion as in the fort of Loncin in Belgium when a 420 mm grenade hit the ammunition warehouse and the fort exploded

To prevent explosion special precautions have been made:
- the train is not allowed in the warehouse to prevent electric sparkles
- a special door can be closed if there is an explosion to protect the rest of the fort
- containers with sand are placed in the warehouse in case of fire.

There are three types of warehouses:
- M1: the main warehouse situated near the ammunition entrance
- M2: situated below an artillery block
- M3: situated near the canons

Ammunition is transported by train or monorail. All ammunition is stored in special containers so that they can move easily
