Uxegney

The fort of Uxegney makes fort of the position of Epinal. This position is part of the defence line build by Séré de Rivierès as from 1880 and includes: Verdun, Toul, Belfort, Lyon and Paris.

The fort is situated on a height of 376 meter and defend the road Epinal-Mirecourt, the railway to Nancy and the Canal de l'Est. The fort is build in 2 years (1882 - 1884).

As 1910 the fort was modernised with a retractable turret for two 75 mm canons (model 1905), a retractable turret for a155 mm canon, two retractable turrets for machine gun and several observation turrets
